What are the must-sees at WEFTEC?

Events to watch in WEFTEC 2014

Last month, Jessica Oler posted a blog that discussed the reasons for upgrading your ultrasonic level transmitter. In the blog, she mentioned that I will not be able to attend WEFTEC this year. However, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to chime in on a few of the “must-sees” and “must-dos”, so I figured I’d give you my top four!

1 – Direct and Indirect Potable Reuse: The New Paradigm (225)

What does WEFTEC say about this topic? This session will examine several projects presenting applicable treatment and monitoring technologies focused on maintaining enhanced water quality through redundant treatment technologies for direct potable reuse (DPR) systems. To read more about this session, click here.

Why would I consider attending this session? Because, this is a real issue. Water isn’t everywhere anymore. The quality of it has diminished. Understanding how these systems operate and how it impacts us, as consumers, is a big interest to me!

2 - Back to Basics: Wastewater Treatment Fundamentals for Petroleum Refineries and Petrochemical Plants (W15)

According to WEFTEC, this workshop will provide an overview on the fundamentals of wastewater treatment technology and operating principles as applied in the petroleum refining and petrochemical industries. To read more, click here.

Obviously, the Oil & Gas industry is booming right now. So with this session under my belt, I could help refineries improve their processes and reporting by better understanding how this industry handles its wastewater process. This workshop seems like the perfect place to get the process ins and outs!

3 – Water and Wastewater 101 Mobile Session (329)

WEFTEC designed this session to engage public officials and people new to the industry with an introduction to water and wastewater treatment processes and hot-topics. Read more here.

Why am I interested? Simple! In addition to the regular sessions, the mobile sessions are always a great way to find new and innovative information for the water and wastewater markets!

4 – “The Tradeshow Lure”

Last month, Jessica mentioned that Fred Pluskat will be on hand to answer questions about your ultrasonic level transmitter. Another great person with lots of experience in the water and wastewater industry is Scott Lee. Scott has over 20 years of experience in these markets, so don’t believe him if he says he started at age 5!

Swing by the Siemens booth (#4634) and see if you can stump Scott. Tell him your water application and let him guide you to the right answer. Prizes will be given to those that can stump our resident expert!

Since I won’t be able to attend, leave me a comment and let me know what you thought about these sessions or others that you attended. Let me live vicariously through your WEFTEC experience.
