The WAVE truck is unlike any semi-trailer you’ve ever seen before; this tractor-trailer is all about aerodynamics and efficiency. Developed by Walmart, purveyor of inexpensive consumer goods worldwide, the WAVE concept, short for Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience, provides a glimpse into the future of the semi-trailer.

An aerodynamic cab, carbon fiber trailer and range-extended electric powertrain, composed of a Capstone micro-turbine and electric motor, distinguish this truck as both energy and cost efficient. According to Walmart, the WAVE is the first carbon fiber trailer to be produced, and its 53-foot-long panels are the first of their size to ever be manufactured.
