BRAZIL TO BUILD GIANT 350 MW FLOATING SOLAR FARM

Massive Floating Solar Farm Set For Controversial Dam in the Amazon

Brazil is set to join Japan and others by embarking on a project to create a giant floating solar farm that would make it one of the largest floating solar installations in the world. The ambitious project will have a reported capacity of 350 megawatts, which is on par with the massive solar thermal plant in Dry Lake, California, and is significantly larger than the current record-holding solar farm project located in Japan which is set to have an output of 13.4 megawatts. The Brazilian scheme is set to be built at the Balbina hydroelectric plant in the Amazon (a project not without controversy). In recent years Brazil has been warming up to solar power and has developed a vibrant and growing photovoltaic market.
