Barr chosen for £5m brewery expansion

Barr Construction has won a £5m contract to extend the BrewDog brewery in Aberdeenshire.

The 4,500 sq ft expansion includes the creation of a new 300 hectolitre brew-house that will be added to the current facility. This large steel frame building will contain the production and warehouse areas and will enable BrewDog to increase production.

Work is due to start on the new brew-house later this month.

In addition to the brew-house, Barr Construction will also be responsible for developing a new tank farm with 20 new tanks at the site in Ellon. This will be located at the first floor level of the brew-house, making maximum use of the available space on site.

The project will also include the development of a three-storey office accommodation at the front of the site.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: “The new warehouse and tank farm will enable us to meet demand and get more awesome beer into more people’s paws.”
