SANY STS cranes successfully delivered to Hutchison Whampoa in Hong Kong

SANY STS cranes, reach stackers and empty container handlers have demonstrated superior performance and reliability at Hongkong International Terminals.

Two units of SANY ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes were delivered to Terminal 4, Kwai Chung of Hongkong International Terminals (HIT) under Hutchison Whampoa in 2014, marking the first successful deal on large port machinery between the two companies.

Hutchison Whampoa is one of the largest enterprises listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange, with business covering major container terminals, property, infrastructure construction and retail around the world.

Before 2014, SANY already successfully delivered reach stackers and empty container handlers to Hutchison Whampoa. The customer required that the machines could on average lift 800 containers without any equipment failure. SANY’s port equipment not only met the demand, but also reached 3,000 containers. Since then, all the 50 ports under Hutchison Whampoa started to use SANY port machinery.

In addition to mobile port equipment, the industry-leading SANY STS cranes demonstrate superior productivity. The latest STS cranes handle at least 400 containers per day, 30%-40% more than previous models. It adopts intelligent control on spreader track and high-speed traversing of trolley, improving the containers handling efficiency. The automatic positioning and locking of spreader are applied to adjust the deceleration duration and position dynamically during the landing of spreader onto the container. This helps decrease the crush to the crane and increase its service life.

SANY STS crane also features comfortable operation environment. The open view, centralized console and ergonomics design of the cab contribute to the convenient operation and ease the fatigue of operators. It’s fitted with German S+B joystick with perfect ergonomics design to ensure precise control and convenient operation.
