Sany construction machinery was used for the construction of the Mamba Cement plant in Northam, Limpopo, in northern South Africa. The construction project began April 2014 and was completed after two years.

The project included the construction of a new cement clinker production line with an output of 1 Mta, a waste heat generation system with 26.8 GWh capacity and other supporting facilities. The joining of the cement plant with an electricity generation system made Mamba Cement the first cement company to embark on waste heat recovery power generation in Africa.

Two Sany SY215C9 excavators were used to undertake heavy earthworks for the construction. Though the project had a tight schedule and required a significant amount of excavation, the two machines worked without any major faults throughout and increased on-site efficiency.

Mamba Cement was highly satisfied with the performance the excavators delivered, and was particularly impressed by Sany’s after-sales service team that provided timely support any time they asked for assistance on or off-site.
