3D PRINTING ROBOTIC ARM CREATES FREESTANDING METAL STRUCTURES

MX3D-Metal printer prints metal objects in mid-air

Two of our favorite things, 3D printing and robots, have joined forces and the results are incredible. The Joris Laarman lab has revealed a robotic 3D printer that builds out freestanding, supportless metal pieces.

The MX3D-Metal is an industrial robotic arm connected to a welding machine; this set up allows the MX3D-Metal to perform multi-axis printing tasks with metals like stainless steel, aluminium, bronze or copper, without any support-structures.
